Poetic Musings of a Southerner

Written: March 2024, in loving memory of my daddy who I lost in 2017.

There’s more to do
No you can’t leave
What’ll I do without you beside me?

I don’t understand
No we weren’t through yet
One more walk in the sand
That’s all I want from you

They say I’ve got your nose, got your smile, got your laugh
Yeah, I’ve got your freckles, too
But when do I get you back?

There’s songs to sing
And dances to dance
But now that you’re gone
I’ll have to partner with someone else

Daddy’s little girl through and through
And, damn, what I wouldn’t give
For another day with you
